Multiplication Sundae

Today we started working toward an ice cream sundae. As the students learn  multiplication facts and pass practice pages they will earn a new ingredient to build an ice cream sundae. Today we practiced the 0s and 1s facts and the students had an opportunity to earn the bowl for their sundae if they passed the practice pages.
This is a fun way to practice facts and build fluency. I reminded the students that this is not a competition and each person will be working at their own pace. I try to do our practice pages on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. They may be on other days as needed. So practice, practice, practice at home!!!!

Of course in the end we will all celebrate our hard work by eating some ice cream!!

Practice Math Facts at Home: Xtra Math

A note is going home today about a math site that your child can use to practice math facts at home. The site: http://xtramath.org/home is very helpful in practicing basic math facts. As your child makes progress and masters the addition and subtraction facts on the site, they will move on to multiplication facts. It is very important that math facts be practiced daily to increase accuracy and build fluency.

Please encourage your child to use this site for practicing facts at least 3 times per week. I will then get a report that will show the math facts that will need additional practice.

I will also link the site to our blog.
