Update: Week of June 3!

Here we are at the last week of third grade!!

A few things to know:

  • Biography Museum TOMORROW!  Please check your email for the time and there was also an invitation that went home to you on Friday! Your child should bring in their outfit and/or poster on Tuesday morning. Please plan to have your child wear as much as their outfit as they can to school as there will not be a lot of time to change.
  • You will see your child’s writing folder come home this week. Please take a look at them and celebrate your child’s hard work and progress made this year! There are also a few ‘first day of third grade’ pages in there that are always fun to look at!
  • I have put together a Summer Practice Packet of ideas and math pages to be working on over the summer. Please email me and let me know if you’d like me to send a packet home with your child. As always, please help your child maintain the routine of reading and multiplication fact practice. This will be very very helpful to them as they enter into 4th grade!!
  • Library Books: Reminder slips went home on Friday. Please have your child look at home for any library books that need to be returned and make sure they are brought in by Friday.
  • Summer Practice: your child will need to get on CLEVER this summer to practice on MobyMax. I will be sending home the CLEVER  QR code for sign-in. For some of you, I have already sent this home with your child earlier in the year.

Update: Week of May 27

I hope you all had a great Memorial Day weekend! I can’t believe we are so close to the last day of school! It has been a great school year and I am so glad to have this group of great 3rd graders to work with this year!!

FIELD TRIP: We had a great day at Frederik Meijer Gardens today! We had some time to explore and then we experienced a great presentation to learn about trees and tree identification. It connected well to our studies of Native Americans, too!

SOCIAL STUDIES TEST: We will have our Core Democratic Values/Public Issues test on Thursday. We reviewed today and the review sheet should come home in your child’s folder.

MATH TEST: We will have our final math test on Friday. This will cover 1 and 2 step word problems and comparison problems. We will review this week and the review page should come home in your child’s folder.

Biography Living Museum is next Tuesday, June 4 from 1:30-2:15. Look for more information to come through email this week.

LAST DAY OF SCHOOL: Friday June 7. This is a half day and dismissal is at 12:15pm.

Week of June 4: our last week!!

I can’t believe it! The last week of school! It has been a fabulous year of learning, fun, and friendships! Thank you for all the ways you have supported your child’s education.

A few things:
Make sure your child has their backpack each day this week. You will see folders and papers coming home. We are cleaning out lockers and desks!

Remind your third grader to return library books.

Friday is a half day. Dismissal is at 12:15pm.

Our class did an outstanding job of presenting their biography research work today!! Thanks to all who came to see our museum. Check it out:

Week of May 21

  • We are working hard on end of the year assessments with reading and writing and we are also spending time doing some math review too! We are finishing strong over the next few weeks!
  • BIOGRAPHY PROJECT: Hopefully you have seen the project note come home as well as the invitation. Help your child plan to dress like the person they researched and/or make a visual to represent their research. You are invited to our Living Museum on Monday, June 4. Please look for an invitation to come home!
  • Multiplication Fluency Practice: We will have our practice page this Friday. Please ask your third grader what facts they should be practicing so they can continue to make progress! Look for last Friday’s practice page to come home.
  • Homework: Please help your third grader to continue working on reading and math fact practice as homework. This is critical not only near the end of the year, but also throughout the summer.
  • We will have our Core Democratic Value Test on Wednesday. This was part of our social studies unit on public issues. A review page will come home today.
  • We go to library on Friday. Please remind your third grader to bring back their books so they can get new ones.

Week of May 14

  • We will not have a homework packet consistently for the remainder of the school year. If a homework page is sent home, I will let you know. The expectation is that students continue with weekly work of reading and math practice by way of flashcards, math apps, practice pages, MobyMax, etc.
  • BIOGRAPHY PROJECT: Look for a note to come home today! This will give you information about the project your child will work on.
  • MobyMax as homework practice:  Third graders will need to log onto Clever to access MobyMax. Let me know if you have forgotten how to do this. There is a link on the right side of the blog under AT HOME links.  I will also continue to have all kids practice fluency here at school.
  • We will have our Science Test on Wednesday. This will cover animal classification and animal adaptations.  A review page will come home today.
  • We go to library on Friday. Please remind your third grader to bring back their books so they can get new ones.
Thank you for the treats and notes last week during Teacher Appreciation Week!! I felt so loved. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to teach your children each day. Thank you for supporting their learning.
