Last week we had  fun looking at the Michigan maps. We located all the natural and human characteristics we have been learning about. We love maps!

Just a reminder that the map project is due this Friday, October 10.

Also, we took a spelling pretest today and new spelling words will come home today. We will have a spelling test on Friday. We continue to study short vowels with consonant blends.

We will begin reviewing multiplication and division today and will have our Unit 1 math test on Wednesday.

Geography Map Project

Today, the information went home for the social studies map project. Your child should have 3 things: A Michigan map, a red sheet with directions/rubric, and the natural and human characteristics page (green sheet).  In class we identified the natural characteristics and human characteristics of Michigan. This includes landforms, bodies of water, cities, highways, lighthouses, and bridges.  We have been learning about these and have identified them on the Michigan map.

As part of the project your child should label these places on the Michigan map that was provided.  Don’t forget neatness and color. There is a checklist that also goes with the project to make sure full points are received.

We have identified these characteristics in class, however, your child may need some guidance to label correctly and find specific locations. You may also use any notes from class.

The map is Due Friday, October 10.

Have fun with your map! Let me know if you have any questions!

Reminder

The map project is due tomorrow! Please help your third grader remember to double check the rubric and turn it in on time tomorrow.

In social studies today we reviewed how people change and adapt to our environment in Michigan. We will have a check up quiz on Friday. The review will be sent home today.

Our math assessment will be tomorrow (Thursday). Please take some time to review multiplication facts with your third grader.

Thank you,

Ms Van Arkel

It became a distraction and to keep us all safe we spent the last part of our day with an extra recess!  🙂  So we will finish up the project information tomorrow, but here is my blog post so you know what to expect:
