This Week!

New spelling words are coming home today. Please help your son/daughter practice them throughout the week. The spelling test will be on Friday.
Please help your child to remember to be consistent with reading at home and math fact practice at home. Reading and Math logs are to be returned every Monday to earn a classroom ticket. Thank you!
Please remember to send winter clothing to school. We still have outdoor recess when it is cold and snowy. Thank you!

Please read this science note from Ms VandeStel:
There will be a science test tomorrow on Plant Adaptations.  Work that we’ve done in class will come home today.  If you’d like to help your child review, please visit my blog at www.kvander.edublogs.org and go to the Plant Adaptations link under the Science tab.

As always, email me with any questions, kvander@hpseagles.net.

Science

Please read this message from Ms VanderStel regarding science:
My name is Ms. VanderStel and I will be your child’s science teacher this year.  Your child will come to my classroom everyday for about 45 minutes to read, learn, and investigate science topics from now until Christmas break.  This week we are reviewing plant parts and their functions from 2nd grade.  We will already have a test on this material next week Wednesday.  Like I said, it’s review! 🙂  A review sheet will come home on Monday.  The next unit is Plant Adaptations.
If you ever have any questions, feel free to email me at kvander@hpseagles.net

-Our last day is Friday. Dismissal is at 1:00.

Dear Third Grade Families,
I have truly enjoyed having your third grader in class this year! Thank you so much for sharing your child with me. It has been so fun to grow together as learners and we have made great memories. I am so proud of each and every child! I’m so thankful for each of their talents and abilities and am glad they have been a part of our class this year.
Thank you for your wonderful support this year and helping your third grader do their best. I appreciate you!
Enjoy the summer!

Science Test!

Please read this note from Ms VanderStel regarding the science test:

Dear Parents:  We tried really hard to get through the science review today and we just didn’t finish.  I want to make you aware that the science test is on TUESDAY!!  The review sheet will come home on Monday night.  I understand this will only give your child one night to study at home.  We have done many experiments.  You will see them all come home on Monday.  Please spend about 20 minutes going over this with them on Monday by asking them to explain to you what we did in class and then asking them the review questions.

 Thank you for your help!
Ms. VanderStel

Science Test!

Please read this science note from Ms VanderStel:

We are nearing the end of our first 3rd grade science unit on Light. Our test will be on Thursday of this week.  The students have done very well with experimenting how light travels and noticing how light refracts.  Please have your child visit my blog at kvander.edublogs.org for the science review.  The link is on the right under the science heading.  Today in class I showed your child how to go about using the link and studying for the test.

Our next unit is Plant Parts.  This is a unit that was also taught in 2nd grade.  We will move very quickly through this unit and have a test on this next week Wednesday. A review sheet will come home Monday.

Friday– science test  (review page will come home on Wednesday)

Next Week:

Wednesday– Recycling Assessment  -I’ll keep you posted on this.
Thursday– Field trip. I will be contacting the parents that sent back the form to chaperone.

I will keep you posted on  government, and fraction assessments coming up.

Thanks so much for supporting your third grader and encouraging him/her to do their best!!  🙂
