3rd Grade Update

Parents,
We have been working hard in third grade! We continue to learn lessons of growth mindset, SOAR expectations for the classroom and school, and goal setting for the year!

REMINDER: EARLY RELEASE is tomorrow. Dismissal is at 12:15pm.

HOMEWORK:
Third grade homework consists of reading 20 minutes five nights a week and multiplication fact practice for 5 minutes, five nights a week. We have been talking a lot about goal setting to help us get better at reading and math facts. Lots of our third graders have made action steps to practice facts and read at home as a way to reach their goal. Don’t forget to log on to MobyMax to practice math facts, too!

MobyMax contest:
Students can earn points when they pass levels on MobyMax. When they earn 200 points, they earn a ticket toward the raffle.

Picture Day and Walk•A•Thon!

Picture Day is tomorrow (Thursday 9/22). You can order online or send in the envelope.

Our school Walk•A•Thon is on Friday! This is our only PTC fundraiser of the year. Your donations and support are very much appreciated!! Our class will be walking from 10:00-10:30am (this is a time change).  Walkers are encouraged to wear RED, WHITE, and BLUE!

Our school Walk a Thon is tomorrow. This is our primary fundraiser for our school!! If you will still be donating money, please have that in to school soon.

The theme of our walk a thon is American Ninja Warrior. Students can dress like a ninja or wear blue and gold.

Here are a few things coming up this week.

As a class, we discussed the BIGGEST FUNDRAISING EVENT of the YEAR…our Thursday, WALK•A•THON. Wear blue and gold and comfortable shoes.

On Friday, the Scholastic book order is due. This orders are made online. The information went home last Friday. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks so much for your orders!
A new reading and fact practice log went home today. Please remind your third grader about their reading and multiplication fact responsibilities. This is due next Monday. Thanks for your support!

Walk-A-Thon

The Walk-A-Thon is tomorrow! We will be walking around 10:00 a.m. Remember to keep collecting your donations. Money is due September 28. Thanks for supporting our great school!!

We would like to announce the classes who are leading the race to the WALK-A-THON LIMO RIDE at the end of each day.  To do so, we will need you to enter your earnings once per day.  Only enter once per day so we can get a fairly accurate indication of the predicted amount per class.

Walk-A-Thon!

The annual walk-a-thon is coming September 26th and this is our primary PTC fundraiser.  Our theme for the 2012-13 Event:

Why is the walk-a-thon donation so important? This money helps to provide to pay for:

  • School assemblies
  • Framed Art Work
  • Score Board and Hoops for the Gym
  • Recess Equipment
  • Family Days like the Carnival, Mother/Daughter and Father/Son Events,
  • Music materials,
  • Popcorn Days,
  • Field Trips
  • Classroom supplies
  • Reading Counts Motivation Program
  • Raz Kids Online Reading Program
  • Book Fair
  • Santa’s Secret Shop
  • Library Books, Nooks AND SO MUCH MORE!!!

We need your DONATIONS of Money!

We want all of these activities and events to continue this year.
PLEASE DONATE!  IF every child raises $25, we can fund the events above AND reach our  goal for the year:
TECHNOLOGY TOOLS FOR THE CLASSROOMS!

We would like to raise enough money to continue the events above and provide affordable tech learning tools to each grade level to assist with student learning.  Please help us support learning through technology by donating to the school PTC.

For our walk-a-thon days, we want everyone to wear BLUE and GOLD…EAGLE Colors.   Parents and grandparents are invited to join us.   The more the merrier!

Walk-A-Thon!

We are getting close to our annual Walk-A-Thon Event!  This is our single money raising activity for our Parent Club.

We have set a goal of $25 for each child to raise….and understanding these tight economic times, know that we will take pennies, nickels, dimes and any amount you are willing to contribute.  The money we raise goes for the support of family/child activities as well as all school events and materials that support learning in many ways.

The walking times and color assignments are as follows:

  • Wednesday, September 29th: 9:45 – 11:15: Morning ECSE, PK, K, 3rd, 4th and 5th Grades
  • Thursday, September 30th: 1:45 – 3:15: Afternoon ECSE,  Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd Grade

COLOR:

  • Grade PK/K and ECSE: RED
  • Grade 1: PURPLE
  • Grade 2:  YELLOW
  • Grade 3:  BLUE
  • Grade 4:  GREEN
  • Grade 5:  ORANGE
