In celebration of World Read Aloud Day we’d like to share just a little about reading in our classroom. Here it goes:

Our classroom read aloud book: We just started reading The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo. This is a story about a mouse who loves music and stories. On his journey he meets a princess and a rat and we can’t wait to see how the story goes.

Our book recommendations: We have a bulletin board in our classroom that is covered with wonderful book recommendations. As students complete a book they can fill out a form to tell others about the book. This is a great way to learn about new books.

Reader’s Choice: As we read books together we have a chance to either vote ‘yes’ I would recommend it or ‘no’ I would not recommend it to others.
Our reading challenge: We have a reading challenge going on in our classroom. As students finish a book they fill out a book form and they get displayed on our wall. Our goal is to make a trail of books all the way across the classroom. We’re almost there!
