Week of May 14

  • We will not have a homework packet consistently for the remainder of the school year. If a homework page is sent home, I will let you know. The expectation is that students continue with weekly work of reading and math practice by way of flashcards, math apps, practice pages, MobyMax, etc.
  • BIOGRAPHY PROJECT: Look for a note to come home today! This will give you information about the project your child will work on.
You are invited to our Living Museum on Monday, June 4. Please look for an invitation to come home!
  • Multiplication Fluency Practice: We will have our practice page this Friday. Please ask your third grader what facts they should be practicing so they can continue to make progress! Look for last Friday’s practice page to come home.
  • MobyMax as homework practice:  Third graders will need to log onto Clever to access MobyMax. Let me know if you have forgotten how to do this. There is a link on the right side of the blog under AT HOME links.  I will also continue to have all kids practice fluency here at school.
  • We will have our Science Test on Wednesday. This will cover animal classification and animal adaptations.  A review page will come home today.
  • We go to library on Friday. Please remind your third grader to bring back their books so they can get new ones.
Thank you for the treats and notes last week during Teacher Appreciation Week!! I felt so loved. I’m so thankful for the opportunity to teach your children each day. Thank you for supporting their learning.

Science Test!

Please read this note from Ms VanderStel regarding the science test:

Dear Parents:  We tried really hard to get through the science review today and we just didn’t finish.  I want to make you aware that the science test is on TUESDAY!!  The review sheet will come home on Monday night.  I understand this will only give your child one night to study at home.  We have done many experiments.  You will see them all come home on Monday.  Please spend about 20 minutes going over this with them on Monday by asking them to explain to you what we did in class and then asking them the review questions.

 Thank you for your help!
Ms. VanderStel

This week!

This week we have new word cards. Please help your third grader practice at home:

took, though, should, their, enough, than, animal, since

There will be a science test tomorrow. It will cover the sound unit. A review page was sent home earlier in the week. Please help your third grader to prepare for the science test tomorrow! Thanks!

A Scholastic book order is coming home today. Please look through this with your child. If you are interested in ordering, please submit your order online by next Wednesday, April 23.

Thank you!

Science Test!

Please read this note from Ms VanderStel about science:

We will have a science test on plant adaptations next week Tuesday, December 10.  We will create a plant with adaptations over the next two days.  A review sheet will come home on Friday along with their plant adaptations.  The hardest part of this test is for them to list a plant adaptation and not the plants normal job.  For example, all plants have a stem that holds up the plant and brings water and nutrients!  This is the plants JOB!  An ADAPTATION would be bark on a tree to protect it from being eaten by animals or the cactus stem acts as a sponge and holds the water in the stem.  They must know the difference between the job and an adaptation that helps it survive.

Science Test and PJs on Friday!

Here is a message from Ms VanderStel about the Science Test:

Your child should have come home with a Force and Motion “lap book” and a simple machines paper last night.  We will have our test on force and motion this Friday.  Please take the time to review with your child.  They will need to identify different forces and simple machines and how they work.

The speed and distance in the lap book is a little confusing.  All they need to know is the higher an object, the faster and farther an object goes or falls.

We will have an all school PJ day on Friday. Yay!!! Come to school dressed comfy.
